Bridal Market Recap - Watters Bridal

Watters Bridal Fall 2013 Collection was amazing....AS ALWAYS!! This bridal fashion house consistently impresses me with their fashion forward, yet instant classics within each collection. This season was no exception. There is something perfect for literally every bride and every body type.

Lace, draping and incredibly detailed fabrics updated this line to a fresh and innovated grouping of beyond beautiful gowns. Consistent with each designer; this was the first season that strapless did not rule the runways. It was all about the illusion neckline, jeweled lace and a variety of straps. Also to be noted.....GOLD, GOLD, GOLD accessories everywhere!!

Check out some of our behind the scenes shots...

Bridal Market Recap - Sarah Seven

Another New York Bridal Market has come and gone, but the fashionable images are still swimming in my head, and I cannot wait to share them!!

This season I have decided to share my recap blog via the way that it was presented to us. Every post will be a different designer. Besides that, there was just simply too much uber goodness to pack it all into one piece.

First up -- Sarah Seven.
Sarah is still a fresh face to the world of bridal fashion, but she has certainly made her mark. With a huge cult following, (celebrities including ), Sarah has quickly become the it girl...and I have happily joined onto the band wagon.

There were so many fantastic pieces among her latest collection, we felt like kids in a candy store. (and this was before our daily after- hours hit up at Dylan's Candy bar. ;) )

ALWAYS true to her aesthetic; Sarah showed on trend sparkle, lace, and the occasional sequin while remaining within her Boho-Chic comfort zone. I could not be more thrilled with her interpretation of the "Gatsby" look that took over the runway. Nothing too literal, or stuffy....which is why I fell in love with her long ago. Here are a couple sneak peek photos.

So happy to say that Serendipity Bridal is the only store within Texas that carries these amazing gowns!! We will have a trunk show on June the 7th and 8th to debut these amazing little numbers...get your spot quick!!

Bridal Trend Predictions

With our NY Market trip just days away, I am crazy excited to preview what the designers have in store for Fall Bridal Fashion, and like always, I CANNOT wait to share with you!!

The trends are certainly pointing in a certain direction, so I know that we can anticipate a few key trends:

-Low Backs-
This is a style that has captivated ready to wear fashion, and is seamlessly transfers to bridal. The use of lace is a perfect way to utilize this look! Check out some sneak peek shots that both Jim Hjelm Occasions, and Haley Paige for Jim Hjelm Blush have leaked via their twitter accounts.

 -Birdcage Viels-
In combination with an interesting back; brides are left guessing how they can pair a veil without over shadowing their sassy backsides. The birdcage veil creates the perfect combo. This vintage headpiece is getting a modern facelift with the addition of side comb adornment and unexpected colors.

-Metallics-
Neutral and neat, this fabric is the perfect choice for a fashion forward bride that isn't afraid to be a little daring.

-Prints-
Bridesmaids designers have begun to introduce the idea of printed maids, but I predict, (and hope), that this season they take the full plunge. I would love, love, love to see some Ikat designs in
soft washed colors muted, and even
some unexpected palettes.

End of Season Sample Sale!!

I LOVE a good sale, and believe me ladies, this one is NOT to be missed!! We have taken dozens of high end designer, silk bridal gowns and marked them down significantly. Not only is this a chance to take advantage of great steals and deals, but we know that planning a wedding can be daunting, why not find your gown off the rack and not worry about tacking on the 4-6 months of time that it takes to order a new dress?!?!

Find the dress, pair some maids with it, grab some super great heels with all of the extra cash you saved, and there you have it.....instant chic, savvy, designer bride!! :)

When purchasing a gown from the rack, there are certain things that you will need to prepare for:

--You will be taking the gown with you. Be prepared to store it until your first fitting.
Our staff will carefully enclose your precious gown in plastic as well as an opaque garment bag to prevent damage, and the occasional nosy fiance. ;)

--Inspect the fit.
Just as in any piece of couture clothing- it is always easier to take a dress in rather than let it out. This is especially beneficial with samples. Any damage that might occur will usually be at the zipper and hem, which can be easily taken in and removed with a gown that needs to be sized down.

--You will need a qualified seamstress recommendation.
Our staff will give you a list of recommended and highly qualified seamstresses as well as choose one that fits your particular gown, timing and location needs.

--These gowns cannot be put on hold.
With the high demand of these designer gowns, it is only fair that the gown be on the floor at all times, until it has found its' proper home. If you love it--buy it.

--Make the dress your own.
Simple additions such as straps, lace sleeves, or even key whole backs will create a whole new look, and make the dress as individual as the bride wearing it.

--Cleaning.
This can be tricky. Many bridal salons will have different opinions on this, and here is mine: Highly consider waiting to determine if the dress truly needs to be cleaned until after your fitting appointments. Many imperfections can be eliminated in the sewing process, or by spot treatments. Cleaning an entire gown requires many chemicals which can change the integrity of a silk gown. This is not true in all cases, and there are qualified cleaners that can do a beautiful job; however, why take the risk if it is not completely necessary?

--Ask your consultant for help.
There are many salons that will suggest that brides looking at sample sale gowns do not need the assistance of a consultant. Not Serendipity. Our consultants are highly knowledgable in each and every designer, gown and fabric that we carry. There are many factors that go into the purchase of a gown from the floor, and we take great pleasure in pairing the right gown with the right bride. A huge reason that we do not encourage brides to  dress alone is so the gowns can stay in the best condition possible.

Here are just a few of the gowns that are included in this amazing sale:

Great Gatsby Trend

With NY Bridal Market quickly approaching, we know that new styles are awaiting us on the runways.  Big prediction thanks to what is popping up in the UK...??? The "Great Gatsby" trend. This 1920s inspired style embodies everything from dropped waists, flapper skirts, bias cuts and fur wraps. (Faux fur, of coarse.)

Here are some 1920s inspired accessories and gowns that I adore.
Photo from pinterest...keep a look out for pieces like this to arrive at the salon! ;)

Sarah Seven Sweet Nothings

This is a look that walks a fine line between glam and costume. Aspects of it are amazing for bridal....you have lighter weight gowns, great head pieces and fabulous fabrics, BUT like any other trend, it is not meant to be worn all together at one time. If this is a time period that you relate to, and you adore this fashion, then pick a couple of things that are true to your aesthetic and go for it.
